    The Thrive Approach

What is Thrive in schools, and how does it work?

At Collingwood, we have embraced the Thrive Approach to support all children’s emotional and social learning to help them to be resilient, regulated and happy.

Mrs Bell (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Cunningham (Family Support/Teaching Assistant).

    How do we do this?

Children are assessed against age-related expectations, which identify interruptions in their emotional development. These assessments allow us to identify those children who need more specific support. Once we have gathered this information, it allows us to use the appropriate strategies and tailor action plans and activities to meet the child’s individual needs.

It has been proved that the Thrive approach reduces barriers to learning and cultivates a positive environment where pupils feel safe, engaged and ready to achieve their full potential.

    Where will we do this?

We are lucky at Collingwood as we now have a Thrive outdoor classroom, “The Thrive Hive @ Collingwood” and, currently under construction, is our Sensory Room and Willow Garden.

Tailor made indoor and outdoor spaces to enhance the children’s sense of wellbeing by providing a calming environment in which they can “Thrive”.

We look forward to starting the Thrive journey with your children!
