Lining up arrangements:

2CC – Miss Cotcher – Blue triangle*
*Parents of 2CC – please note that this class enters first thing in the morning through the Reception entrance door (as they will at playtimes) but will need collected from their KS1 shape at the end of the school day. This minimises bottlenecking down the corridor.
PE in Year 2
2CG Mrs Clarkson/Mrs Grant: Tuesday and Friday
2CC Miss Cotcher: Wednesday and Thursday
Please ensure children have the appropriate, labelled kit (yellow t-shirt, black shorts & sandshoes) and all jewellery is removed on the day. Staff are unable to remove this & it will prevent your child from doing PE.
Please ensure that your child follows the school uniform requirements:
Boys: plain grey/black trousers, white polo shirt, grey pullover or school sweatshirt. Flat black trainers or school shoes.
Girls: grey skirt or grey/black trousers, white polo shirt, grey cardigan or school sweatshirt, Flat black trainers or school shoes. There is also a summer dress in yellow.
Leggings are not permitted.
Homework and Reading:
Reading is of high priority to us in KS1 and each child will be supplied with an individual reading book tailored to their level, which they will bring home and back on a daily basis. We request that children read a minimum of three times a week but have found that children who read a little each night are the ones who make the most progress.
Children will also receive weekly spellings on a Monday to be practised and returned by the Friday.
Year 2 children will also complete a fortnightly maths worksheet linked to learning in class. This will become a weekly task in the spring and summer terms.
A homework club will be offered to assist with this.
We subscribe to http://uk.mathletics.com/ whereby children can practise fun maths skills at a level tailored to them. Each child will be issued with a mathletics password, which will be stuck in the front of their reading diary.
Year 1 Phonics check/Year 2 revisit:
Week beginning Monday 10th June 2019. Any Y2 children who did not meet the expected standard whilst in Y1 will be re-tested then.
Year 2 SATs
Year 2 children are required to sit statutory assessments in reading and maths throughout the month of May 2019. Writing is teacher assessed via evidence collected throughout the year. It is vital that children are not taken out of school at this time.

If your child is going to be absent please ring the office asap on 0191 6053378.
Thank you for your continued support. We can’t wait for the exciting year ahead!
